Since its establishment in 1993, the School of Law at the University of New England has developed an important position in Australia's legal and scholarly community. As the country's largest and most experienced online provider of legal education with world standard research, the School of Law provides opportunities to undertake Australian legal studies for people living anywhere on the continent and beyond, who might otherwise lack these opportunities.
The Bachelor of Laws (3 Years) is available to Year 12 applicants with an ATAR or equivalent of at least 90.00, or anyone who has completed a Diploma or above qualification with sufficient grades. Assumed knowledge is any two units of English. Year 12 applicants who completed prior to 2015 may apply as well as applicants who have undertaken a Diploma or above qualification with sufficient grades. Bachelor of Laws (4 Years) is designed for people who are new to university study or to the study of law, including people who want to change careers or get a qualification. For the first year of this degree, you will undertake elective units from any other areas within the university, such as languages, physics, business, communications, statistics, history, biomedical science, media studies, psychology, accounting...the list goes on! This first year will prepare you for the study of law, as well as give you the opportunity to expand your academic horizons.
Graduate Certificate in NDIS Business Development has been designed to enhance students understanding and appreciation of the issues affecting the disability sector. As such it offers study of both legal and business frameworks that impact upon organisational operations that may affect the optimum delivery of client focussed services. At the end of the program of study students will have a sound grasp of the legislative frameworks underpinning the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
The qualification will allow existing managers, and those seeking managerial level employment within disability organisations to further their knowledge of legal processes and obligations relevant to organisational business development priorities in the NDIS.
Our Diploma in Prosecution and Advocacy has been developed for people who need skills in prosecution and advocacy in their work. Students will develop the necessary skills to make representations to plead a case, to argue and persuade on behalf of a client or organisation.
Criminology is the study of crime, violence, crime control, crime policy and prevention. A criminologist looks at the reasons for crime and why it is committed, and what effect crime has, both on individuals and society as a whole.
Within the Bachelor of Criminology you will study criminal law, criminology, forensic science, forensic psychology, policing, penology and the sociology of deviance and victimology.
A double degree in Criminology and Law provides you with the flexibility to either pursue a purely legal career as a practitioner or to build a successful career in criminology, drawing on legal skills and knowledge.
UNE boasts one of Australia's largest law schools outside a capital city, as well as being an early adopter of innovative technology in the delivery of its law programs.

Flexibility is the key to our online learning programs. Whatever your commitments you can study at any time or place around the world - at home, travelling or at work. Your study can be balanced with the competing interests of work, family and social commitments.
UNE has been providing flexible education for over 60 years, so we know what the challenges are, and have a wide range of support services in place to help students overcome them. Our online teaching is designed to be inclusive, and to create a learning community for all students to engage with each other as well as academic staff. This is one of the reasons why we’ve been rated the best online university by Online Study Australia in its national list of top ten online universities.
Instead of turning up to a lecture on campus at a designated time, the course content is provided online for you to access when it suits you each week. It might be a podcast (recorded lecture), a set of readings, questions posed in a discussion board, an online quiz or a video. Your lecturer will guide you through the unit with a weekly plan of study.
To make sure your learning can take place when it suits you, UNE provides online facilities which allow you to send questions, submit assignments, order library books, check your grades and access other resources, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
We also believe that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond just the subject matter.
Some online units have intensive schools, which are usually held in the term breaks at our Armidale campus. Intensive schools are a valuable and enjoyable experience that enrich the learning process and help build your networks. Check the Course and Unit Catalogue to see if any units in your degree have intensive schools.
Please note: International students who wish to study wholly online are only permitted to do so if they are studying online from overseas or are studying in Australia on a visa other than a student visa.
The Pathways Enabling Course prepares you for admission to an undergraduate course at UNE. It is free from course fees and available online. The course awards you with the minimum entry requirements and can provide credit towards your UNE degree.
